Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and completion of filter processes operation and monitoring including:

starting up and shutting down equipment in sequence

selecting and using relevant tools and equipment

operating and monitoring equipment

identifying and diagnose faults

completing required documentation

conducting housekeeping activities

working in confined spaces

applying hazardous goods procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the operation and monitoring of filter processes that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work requirements

demonstrates completion of the operation and monitoring of filter processes that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

starting up equipment in sequence

operating and monitoring equipment, including:

determine filteringefficiency

monitor plant and identify defects and potential problems

adjust equipment to approved operating parameters to optimise performance,

maintain efficient filtering

control feed to equipment

monitor moisture in cake and density of filtrate

monitor cleaning processes

monitor and maintain air systems to specified moisture parameters

maintain cleanliness of pressure/vacuum systems

shutting down in sequence and/or isolating equipment

clearing slurry from filtering circuit after commencing shutdown

checking and clean filter chamber and changes failed filter components


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of operation and monitoring of filter processes through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

managing risks, hazards and hazardous goods

addressing and reporting environmental issues

isolation and breakdown procedures and responsibilities

complying with equipment safety requirements

carrying out work according to air cleaning principles and systems

identifying and reporting defects

complying with WHS procedures

using operational procedures and checks

working in confined spaces

contaminant identification

identifying consequences of spills

changing filters

identifying air systems plant and configuration

applying filter plant configurations and functions

comply with filter plant operation

identifying plant and equipment limitations and operating parameters

complying with filtering procedures

implementing troubleshooting techniques

applying isolation procedures

using metallurgical and technical data (basic)

identifying ore characteristics

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
